On July 11, the "Centennial Classics of Chinese Art: Masterpieces of Modern and Contemporary Art" exhibition opened in Changsha, showcasing 75 iconic works by renowned Chinese artists. These masterpieces, which have previously displayed abroad during China's diplomatic activities across the world, stand as participants and witnesses of the country's cultural diplomacy since the founding of the People's Republic China.
At the opening ceremony, China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) and Hylink Digital Solutions Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement, marking a commitment to in-depth collaboration in areas such as cultural exchanges, exhibition partnerships, cultural-tourism IP development, and culture global outreach. The signing of the agreement aims to pioneer innovative models and pathways for cultural presentation in the digital era.
The exhibition is structured into four thematic sections to showcase the brilliance of modern and contemporary Chinese art: "Tradition and Transformation," "Picturesque Landscapes," "Ode to the People," and "A Hundred Flowers Bloom."
Visitors will encounter iconic masterpieces such as Ren Bonian's "Three Chivalrous Warriors," Xu Beihong's "Galloping Horse," and Qi Baishi's "Shrimps and Crabs."
The 75 curated works span a century of artistic innovation—from Wu Changshuo's epigraphic grandeur to Wu Guanzhong's poetic watercolors, and from Chen Shizeng's scholarly traditions to Lin Fengmian's vibrant ink-and-color modernism. The exhibits trace the artistic explorations of the Beijing-Tianjin School, the New Jinling School, and other influential painting schools, offering a kaleidoscopic view of 20th-century Chinese art that caters to audiences of all ages.
The exhibition will run until October 31, featuring a series of special events including the "Meixi Lake Giant Panda International Art Season" and the "China-chic Music Night." These initiatives aim to help establish Changsha as a nationally influential art hub.
